how to build your wardrobe

Undoubtedly, my style has changed a lot since starting my blog some five years ago, you can see a collection of my first year outfits here! Crazy, right?! I feel like like I'm on the cusp of another shift (but probably not as drastic) now that I'm consciously curating and building my wardrobe. If you're looking for your own closet re-do tips? I'd say, pull everything out of your closet and only add back the things you love. Then add great basics like: t-shirts, tanks, cardigans, simple pullovers, blazers, a shift dress, classic skinnies, pumps, flats and sneakers.

Once, you've decided on which items to keep, and added killer basics, you'll want to spice up your closet and add personality. Be sure to add items that speak to your individuality because these will become your "style signature!" For me, that's things like: red lipstick, black cat eye sunglasses, hats, scarves, a statement pump and the odd statement necklace, or cuff.

As for today's outfit? Proof is in the pudding! While I wear these pieces all the time, I've never actually paired them together! For me, that's kind of revolutionary... because I'm realizing the less I have, the more I'm willing to take stalk and experiment. I'm not necessarily advocating a teeny-tiny closet, but if you're trying to re-define, or get to know your style? It's a wonderful place to start! Hope you guys feel inspired to build your own functional wardrobe, and if you have any questions?! Ask away, I'd love to answer them in a future post! xo
