Look Book: Simple & Classic!!

Last week, I couldn't get enough of bright & bold colours, and this week I'm on a total neutrals kick, but it's always nice to mix it up, right?! Actually, I've been warming up to the idea of experimenting with slightly simpler outfits as of late. This spring I'd love to wear more neutrals, play with textures and invest in some fantastic accessories. What about you guys... any looks you're excited to try?

And speaking of new things, I also spent a bit of last week shopping at one of my fave local boutiques. As a side note, it's walking distance from our condo & next too a fab vegan restaurant - score! I've been making an effort to add more quality staples to my closet, and really, is there anything better than the feel of luxurious fabrics? I think not. The rest of my day was spent picking up packages from the post office (yay!) and buying groceries for the week. Oh, the glamor! ;)

Scenes From: A Quiet Little Sunday!!

Yesterday, Martin and I decided on an impromptu waffle date. We were ready to decompress from a busy week & weekend. We brewed some super tasty coffee, I flipped through my favourite magazines (hello, outfit ideas!), ate organic waffles drizzled with maple syrup, and cuddled with our pets. Speaking of which, my gosh Scout needs a haircut - poor guy is looking so overgrown! Here are a few photos from yesterday...

Hello, friends! Just a quick outfit post today; I'm actually on a small work hiatus. Oh, the woes of being a business owner - it's been a crazy busy week for me. But I am determined to cure my exhaustion with a bit of afternoon shopping, a yoga class, a much needed hair appointment, and then end the day off right with a bubble bath in our massive soaker tub, accompanied by a glass of bubbly, of course!

Hope everyone enjoyed a lovely weekend. I spent mine running errands for my upcoming “Oh, Poppy!” store. I’m absolutely in the throws of this new project and loving it. I just found some fabulous & local wholesalers, so I picked up all of my supplies on Saturday. You can see my newest creation here! Then on Sunday, Martin & I went on the prettiest nature walk; it’s something we’re hoping to do more often. I’m trying to be really disciplined about not working all the time. You gotta enjoy life too, right?!

I love colour! I’ve always wanted to style red & purple together. Look Book: Argyle, Polka Dots & A Valentines Blogger Meet-up!!

Just this past Sunday, I attended a Valentines themed blogger meet-up, hosted by my good friend Cee of Coco & Vera. We met up at Cee's home, which is beautifully decorated with Parisian bits everywhere - it's really adorable! We then (in our usual fashion!) gathered around her kitchen island where we gabbed fashion, sipped wine, and ate yummy cakes & fresh strawberries. It was a super fun day. I absolutely love those girls!

We unfortunately didn't get our usual group shot, as it was pretty rainy & glum outside, but I was thrilled to see & meet: Randa, Leonie, Alison, Alicia, and our host Cee - of course! I'm also super excited to share that Cee & Alicia are organizing the first large scale blogger clothing sale here in Vancouver. It's going to be a fabulous day complete with goodie bags & adorable clothes. I'll be sure to keep you posted on that!

How was everyone's Valentines Day?! Ours was such a sweet day. I excitedly surprised Martin with a decorated condo full of strung hearts & confetti, his favourite pasta dish, chocolates, and a bottle of red. He loved it. We then ended our evening snuggled on the couch and watched romantic movies - it was the perfect mid-week date for two very over-worked people. ;) xo veronika

It feels so great to be starting a new week! Last week was absolutely crazy busy... I basically worked way too many hours -oops. So when Saturday hit, I couldn’t wait to throw together a cute outfit & soak in some weekend fun. Saturday morning we headed down to the pier, and after a sweet walk, we enjoyed the most scenic sunset drive to see our dear friends, Clint & Erin - absolutely stunning!

Guys, I’ve gotta admit, I was in a bit of a fashion slump last week. Ug, don’t you hate when that happens?! But this was an outfit I was really excited about. Cute. Girly. Relaxed. Yay! I’ve also started wearing jeans a lot more this season. Love them, especially when paired with boots & adorable knee socks or leg warmers. And speaking of jeans?! Look Book: Pleats, Stripes & Denim!!

Yay, sunshine! On Sunday, Martin & I headed out for an amazingly pretty walk around our neighbourhood and stopped for some outfit photos, of course! I don’t think we ever leave the house without our camera. We then ventured down to the ocean, drove to pick up our weekly groceries and came home nice & early to relax. I've been working a lot the last few days, so I'm really trying to savour any available moments of down-time.

I’m spending the rest of today working on my online store. I'm excited to have the website done - it's looking super cute! I also finished sourcing all the jewelry components, which was definitely a labour of love, and took a surprisingly long time. However, now that it's all done, I'm getting really excited to launch the store. And in other news? If you don’t hear from me later today, that’s because I’ll be taking a nap. I got up at 3:30 this morning - ack, what the?!?

As for the outfit, there’s no denying my love for cute skirts, cozy knits and comfy boots. It’s a look that feels, well, very me. Although, when I was putting this outfit together, I was really longing for a thick knit oatmeal sweater to pair with it. I dug through my closet but came up empty handed. Sigh. And check 'em, these are my new Jackie boots from Blowfish. I'm thrilled to finally own a pair of whiskey hued boots - these ones absolutely make my heart go pitter-patter. xo veronika

Look Book: Snowy Strolls & Cozy Dresses...

Sheesh! It took forever to choose photos for this post... it's kind of hard sorting through photos of yourself sometimes - talk about indecisive! Do you guys ever have those moments?! Hehe, moving along, this week I've been non-stop with the cozy & relaxed looks, but it suits my entrepreneurial lifestyle perfectly. On the flip side, I'm known (ask Martin) to totally over-dress for non-glamorous things like buying groceries. Ha, what can I say? Some days, I'm all about dressing for mood rather than function.

I was so excited to buy this dress from my sweet friend Tieka of Selective Potential. I love when other bloggers set up "shop my closet" online stores - such a swell idea! As for the styling of the dress? Although it's definitely a summer piece, I decided to give it a more winterized look by pairing it with my cable knit tights & fave textured knits. This weekend, Martin & I are off to visit our friends in the city. They just moved into a new townhouse which they had professionally decorated - SO fun! Scenes From: A Quaint Fisherman's Village!!

Last weekend Martin & I decided on a spontaneous day trip. We went to visit the cutest little fisherman's inspired village, just a mere 20 minutes from our home. It's situated right on the river, which had huge sheets of ice floating on it (crazy!) that's pretty unusual for us. We spent our day walking around, peeking at the shops, took photos and then visited a local pub for some delicious food & amazingly yummy beer. I love doing trips like this and I'm already hoping to plan another one. Yay, weekends!!

Aren't these waterfront homes the prettiest?! We almost bought a home here several years ago, but then decided on our current location. Although, we may consider moving here once we start a family. And speaking of a bigger home?! I'd also love, love to get another dog, but first I'll have to convince Martin of my "two dogs are better than one" theory. Let's see how that goes. ;)

The area also had a fantastic walking trail, with the most beautiful view of the river. Our pooch was in absolute bliss - he loves his off-leash time. Aw! Coming here definitley reminded me of how important it is to get out, see new things and mix up my routine. It was a super memorable & relaxing day. What about you guys? Wow, we took these photos lightning fast! Don't be fooled by my calmness, it was absolutely freezing out, but rest assured I had a nice coat to bundle in to once our shoot was over. This week, hubs & I have been busy little bees. Martin is working on getting his masters of education in fine arts (yay, so happy for him!) and I've been keeping my hands full with way too many projects. But no whining here, it's completely self-inflicted! ;)

I wore this just a few days ago when Martin & I had a little lunch date. I felt like it was such a different look for me, which is exactly what I needed. Sometimes it's so nice to break out of the norm and try something different, isn't it?! On this particular day, I stood in front of my closet with the same outfit variation playing in my head: bowler hat & dress ...so I decided to challenge myself and think up something different. Voila!

I'm excited to be putting a new feature together for the blog. I absolutely love, love to cook - so I thought I would periodically share some of my favourite vegetarian dishes with you guys. Any cooking fans out there? For me, it's such a great way to decompress after a long day. I can usually be found hanging out in my kitchen with a glass of wine, chopping & sauteing, and playing my fave music. I'm a happy homebody, that's for sure! xo

Look Book: Cozy Leg Warmers & Lazy Weekends!!

Martin & I were lazy, lazy bums this weekend and it felt sooo good! On Saturday, we took advantage of the relatively mild temperature and went to explore a fisherman's village just 20 minutes from where we live - it was so nice to get out and do something different. Yay! I'll be sharing those photos with you early next week. The rest of the weekend was spent doing a few DIY decorating projects around our home. I also (oh joy!) discovered pinning!! Cozy knit leg warmers & knee boots is a look I've wanted to try for quite a while and I absolutely loved it. Plus, I really liked the added warmth. Cute & functional is a total win-win in my fashion books! And as much as I want the warmer weather to come back, it's always during this season that I realize how much I love to layer - it adds so much more interest to an outfit!

This week, I'll be ordering my Girl & Closet business cards for my upcoming trip to Texas Style Conference in Austin, Texas - yay! I'm slowly starting to plan some outfits for it too. Look Book: Casual Snowy Days & Ocean Trails!!

Hooray! No shivering for me during outfit photos today. I just picked up this adorable coat at H&M and as you can imagine, it's quickly turned into my favourite winter staple. I've been wearing it with pretty much everything. This winter I've been absolutely obsessed with faux fur. Anyone else?! It's such a fun & easy way to add a quick pop of glam to any outfit. And on that note, I can't stop thinking about this lovely "faux fur funnel scarf" from ASOS. I need to get it. Cute, right?!

These photos were taken on one of my favourite trails - it's only a few minutes from our home and seriously spectacular. Basically, you walk along a lush forested trail, but what makes it so unique is it's ocean-side with mountains & evergreens all around you. I always feel like I'm a million miles away when I'm here; it's my instant vacation spot and a huge part of why Martin & I moved to this neighbourhood. In the summer, we come here often with a little picnic and a bottle of wine. We absolutely love the outdoors!

Look at that face! Aw, I love when Scout makes an appearance in my outfit photos! Hehe, moving on... I finally set up my FAQ page - it kind of took forever (oops, sorry about that guys). Look Book: Winter Lace & Snowflakes!!

Brr, the cold & snow have finally hit and we are expecting a lot more later this week. Fun!! I love taking our pooch (aka cutie patootie!) out for snowy strolls; he gets insanely excited and runs in crazy circles around me - it's super cute & hilarious! And nothing beats going for snowy romantic walks with Martin. We love heading down to the ocean and seeing it all covered in white... it's absolutely the prettiest!! In fact, I may go down there for outfit photos later this week!

Last week & this week are pretty busy for me. I'm in the throws of setting up my new store, which now has a name: "Oh Poppy!" I've been configuring shipping, writing all my shop policies, sourcing stock, and ordering all the supplies I need for my jewelry. It's been taking up most of my time and even though it's going to be a small store to start, there is always so much to figure out and plan for. But I could not be more thrilled to be taking this project on - it's something I've always wanted to do and it's exciting to see it all come together.

Hope everyone's week is moving along nicely! I've been coming down with a bit of a cold this week, which isn't much of a surprise as it's been a lot of work-work lately!! What was that I said about taking better care of myself this year?! Haha, all is not lost though - I'm planning on kicking my butt & health in gear, and starting a cleanse this week. Wish me luck! I'll be avoiding all animal products, refined flours & sugars, and no wine or cocktails for me. Gasp!! I'm really excited though, I always feel so amazing after a cleanse!

I wore this super cute number just a few days ago when Martin & I went out on a date. We visited our fave local sushi restaurant and I of course indulged in all my favourite "cleanse prohibited" items. Obviously, that's the only way to start a cleanse! We then headed to H&M, and later peeked at a few condo show-rooms; we are very slowly looking for a new home. There is also talk of moving into a loft - I would absolutely love that!! I'm dreaming of converting an area for my photography business, and naturally I would shoot some of my outfit photos there too. Fun!

Not sure if you saw my tweet the other day, but I tweeted about the most adorable "Collar Necklace" DIY tutorial. It's such a fun spin on the collar trend and would look so amazing with any vintage or cocktail dress - love, love!! Look Book: Gingham Shirts & Dreaming of Spring!

Hello, Monday! How was everyone's weekend?! Mine was a little more action packed than previously predicted, but still super relaxing. Saturday we met up with our friends in the city for extra yummy cocktails & dinner. And, Martin & I finally got around to getting all of our x-mas decorations down - did anyone else take as long as meee?! Jinx. I promised myself I would do it right after new year's, but then this thing called "life" happened!

I remember when I started blogging, I wore jeans a lot. Funnily enough, it's not something I do too often these days. I usually find skirts & tights a lot more comfy, but one of my fashion resolutions was to try and mix it up a bit more this year. I just bought this shirt and I think it might be the first button-up I've bought in years!! I used to wear them all the time when I worked as an administrative manager in the ole' corporate world. Goodness, my style used to be so different back then! Also, the colour & gingham pattern are getting me so excited for spring - straw fedora, floral a-line skirt, my cork wedges?! Yes please!!

As for the rest of this week?! I'm still in the trenches of sorting out my passport stuff for my trip to Austin, Texas, so hopefully it's a smooth experience. Fingers crossed! I've also started working on my store this week. I'll be hosting it through Goodsie, which I was so thrilled to find - it seems really streamlined & easy to use. Does anyone else have experience with it?! And if you're curious about my new store & what I'll be selling, it will be a small collection of clothes and my handmade jewelry! Hey guys! Phew, what a fun & busy week it's been!! I'm super thrilled to announce that I'm off to the "Texas Style Council Conference" in March - whoo hoo! Is anyone else attending?! If you are, be sure to let me know because I'd love to meet you. This will be my first time in Austin, Texas (yay!), which is exciting stuff as I've heard it's incredibly pretty there... I'm also ridiculously giddy to meet so many of my favourite bloggers. I just might have to pinch myself. ;)

We took these photos just a few days back when we had the most blissfully mild day out: sunny, warm, jacket-less - yup, this is my kind of winter weather! As for the outfit?! Don't you guys find there is something so perfect about mustard hues paired with black & white stripes? It's a combination I've been excited to try for a while, and I loved it! With the arrival of 2012, I'm really hoping to stretch my "fashion wings" and try some new-to-me patterns, hues and silhouettes. Can't wait! I love having little fashion resolutions & outfit ideas; it's one of my fave things about having a blog - it keeps me inspired to keep trying new things!!

Happy new year, friends! Yay, I'm so excited to be posting my first outfit of 2012!! I've enjoyed such an amazing Christmas & new year's. Yippee, it was so rejuvenating getting some time off, but I'm so thrilled to be back to my usual blogging schedule. I feel so full of new ideas for this upcoming year and I seem to just be bursting with loads of creative energy too. I'm also buckling down later this month and opening a small online store - finally! It's a project I really look forward to growing this year!

As for the rest of my new year's goals/resolutions?! Mainly, I'm trying to tackle the little things right now: staying fit, eating right, getting proper sleep and just generally taking better care of myself. I've been known to put work before my health & sanity - ack, so bad! My hubby knows this bad habit of mine, all too well! I'm also hoping to make more time for friends, host little informal dinner parties; it's something I love, love to do! And I'm planning on taking more adventures with Martin this year - we have so many stunning places in BC and I can't wait to explore them. What's on your list for this year?

Looking Back at 2011 - My Fave Moments!!

It's so fun to be able to look back through 2011 & reminisce about some of my fave blog/life moments, and share a few new pics with you guys too. Let's take a look back, shall we?! January... ah, the month that I started my blog! Yay!! I was so excited to start (no, really!). I kept blabbing on about "Girl & Closet" and my idea of it. Aw, and here is the first photo I ever posted - goodness, it feels like forever ago.

April was such a wonderful month. I attended my first blogger meet up and met three of the loveliest ladies!! Lynn of "Hearted Girl," Alex of "To Vogue or Bust," and Cee of "Coco & Vera." It was such a fun afternoon, we were all so giddy with excitement and couldn't wait to meet. The best part?! We all felt like such great friends by the end of the afternoon. Funnest day, ever!

Later that month, I also attended Vancouver Fashion Week with a few of my close girlfriends, and had an amazingly memorable time. We viewed the Dawn Sharp collection and Autobiographie from Paris; we drank wine, gabbed fashion, and I can't wait to do it again this spring!! I adore my girlfriends - they are so inspirational to me!

We celebrated my birthday in July, and although we decided on a quiet at-home celebration, we still had such a fun time together!! Martin surprised me with pink champagne, the tastiest fruit flan and (my personal fave!) silly little birthday hats. Haha, I love our cute little birthday portrait!

Yay, summer! We spent most of ours living on our patio, and afternoons were spent soaking up all of the amazing hot sun. Ah, I also remember spending warm summer nights relaxing by our pool, lounging around watching movies, or visiting with our friends. I adored every minute of it!!

In August, Martin and I went on the sweetest little date ever! We packed a delicious picnic complete with wine, brought a cozy blanket & snuggled, and watched the most breathtaking sunset. I love going on fun little adventures with my hubby, and this was by far one of my favourites from this past summer.

In September, I met up with so many of my favourite Vancouver bloggers for a super fun clothing swap. We had such a fantastic turnout and I love that our group continues to grow so much.

I was over the moon ecstatic when Tieka of Selective Potential contacted me in September, asking if I'd be her "autumn featured blogger" - hehe, I did a little dance & said YES!

Martin & I got into the full swing of fall; we did a super fun pumpkin carving one afternoon and decorated our home with lovely fall things. And I can't wait to go to a pumpkin patch this coming October and find a local apple orchard too - fun!!

I couldn't have been more ecstatic when Lucky magazine added me to their Lucky Style Collective in the month of November. I absolutely adore the magazine, and I can't wait to work on some fabulous collaborations with them in 2012 - yay!

Later that month, I was super excited to create a little blog nook for myself. It's helped me stay focused & feel really productive. I've added a few more things since, and I hope to share another "blog nook post" with you guys some time in the new year - along with more blogging tips.

December brought so many lovely things my way. One of my absolute favourites was having the opportunity to work with ModCloth and Tieka of Selective Potential, on a super fun collaboration called "Spread The Cheer" - yay!

Lastly, December was made complete by getting to enjoy the holidays with our family & friends... we had such a wonderful Christmas! I've been loving the time off and soaking up every minute of it!!

Thanks so much for reading my yearly wrap-up and I can't wait to see what 2012 brings. I have so many exciting things I'm hoping to do, some of which include: attending New York Fashion Week, opening my online store, and planning lots of wonderful trips with my hubby over the spring & summer months. Outfit Review - My Fave Outfits of 2011!!

It's so fun to be able to look back at my favourite outfits of 2011! I truly can't believe that my blog will be "one" in January -phew, this year went by fast. I'm so excited for 2012, and I'm so looking forward to another wonderful year of blogging; this blog has truly turned into such an incredible love & passion of mine. With that said, thank you so much for your amazing support guys. I couldn't do this with out you!! Cheers to another year of outfits & amazing bloggy friendships!

Outfit #1 - This has got to be my all time favourite outfit! I could wear it over and over again, in fact I just might wear it later this week with some cute boots & over the knee socks!! This dress was my first purchase from ModCloth (yay!) and I loved adding a pop of lace to this sweet little floral print dress. Outfit #2 - Aw, these were my first train track photos and I love the cinematic feel of them. I adore the hue of the skirt; it's such a pretty blue, and pairing it with my green tights just seemed perfect!

Outfit #3 - We had such a mild summer this year. I spent most of it living in my straw fedora, retro flared jeans, and cork wedge heels - summer, I miss you! Outfit #4 - I wore this fun little ruffled & layered number one afternoon when Martin and I went to explore a local train museum by our home; it was such a fun day and I loved everything about this outfit! I'm absolutely a layers girl, through-and-through!!

Outfit #5 - My first fall as a fashion blogger left me feeling endlessly inspired. Our town was bursting with such beautifully rich hues and I loved incorporating them into my outfits. Martin and I headed down to the ocean early one evening to take these photos - ah, what a stunning season!! Outfit #6 - Cutest photo shoot ever! If you head over to the original post, both Martin & my pooch made an appearance. Also, this outfit landed me on the front page of Chictopia and received some pretty crazy high votes! Thank you guys, I was super flattered!! :)

Outfit #7 - Everyone had such lovely things to say about this outfit. For many of you, it was your personal favourite and I was absolutely smitten with it too. I loved working with a brown, black and camel palette for this one and it featured my fave fashion accessory ever - my bowler hat! Outfit #8 - This outfit was featured in The Huffington Post - I loved wearing this cozy little number. It includes all of my most adored things: cable tights, my vintage knit hat, a bright floral pattern and a stunning pier. I was so smitten with this location!!

Outfit #9 - I believe this was my last fall post for the season and I was beyond enamored with both the location & how the outfit came together. I've never been much into red, but somehow this year I've really developed a love for it and I have some super fun "red hued" outfits up my sleeve for the new year. Yay! Outfit #10 - I saved the best for last. I worked with ModCloth & my dear friend Tieka of Selective Potential for this particular outfit post. We both styled the same dress for ModCloth's "Spread The Cheer" event; the whole experience was amazingly fun and proves that everything is better when great friends are involved. I loved, loved this dress and I hope to wear it again for my upcoming Valentines post - it'll be so much fun to remix!!

Merry (almost!) Christmas, everyone! I couldn’t be more thrilled to be participating in ModCloth's "Spread The Cheer" event today. Ah, what a super fun day! Well, it’s official. I’m in the full swing of x-mas parties and I’m loving every minute of it! We’ve been meeting up with so many of our friends for festive dinners, and just this past Sunday we headed into the city to enjoy a super fun Christmas brunch with our best pals; it was hosted by a dear friend of ours, and we stayed well into the evening (so much fun!). Aww, I absolutely adore our friends - you couldn’t ask for a better bunch!! ♥

Meet my favourite thrifted Betsey Johnson skirt. I still can’t believe I picked it up for something crazy like $5! Nuts, right?! I can't wait to remix it again this winter with some bold colour & fun accessories. I'm also crazy about boots this season and I couldn't wait to wear my new wright boots - aren't they the cutest?! They are super comfy and keep my toes nice & toasty too. Wow, I seriously can't believe it’s December and look, no coat! It’s been super mild out. So far, having a blog in the colder months hasn’t been too bad - hehe, let’s see how I’m holding up in January! ;)

Later today I'm off to do some serious Christmas power shopping, and I'm super excited to pay a quick visit to H&M to nab a few things for myself. I've been so busy this month, I haven't had the chance to spend my monthly clothing budget... as a side note (if you're curious) I spend $200 on clothes every month. Does that sound like a lot?! I can't believe that Christmas is just around the corner. Wow, that just seems lightening fast! I'm getting so, so excited for some time off with the hubs; two glorious weeks to be exact! Eee - family x-mas dinners, mini winter adventures, yummy pancakes in bed, long walks, followed by even longer naps. Guys, I'm tellin ya, I can not wait! Let the countdown begin!! :)

As you can see, our home is all decorated for the holidays. I had so much fun putting it all together! The past few years, I've been so swamped with work, I sadly haven't had the chance to fully embrace Christmas. But this year I was determined to make our home super festive and I'm so glad I did -yay! I can't help but wake up with a huge smile on my face every morning - it's truly such an amazingly magical time of year!!

Martin & I always count our blessings this time of year. We feel so thankful for all the love in our lives, our marriage, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with all the great things this year has brought - the blogging community absolutely being one of them! Look Book: Sun-drenched Afternoons & Mixed Florals!

Geez, look at that gorgeous sunshine!! You wouldn't even know it's December with all of the glorious sun we've been having! It's been incredible. We just had our yearly "giant" Christmas tree lighting in our town, along with carolers & live music, and super yummy roasted chestnuts just a few weekends ago. I'm hoping to sneak over there in the next couple of days and take some outfit photos alongside the enormous Christmas tree. I'm so excited by the idea of doing Christmas themed posts; let the x-mas fun begin!

I’m absolutely in the full swing of Christmas!! Our condo is decorated with hollies & pine branches, the tree is up, and most evenings are spent sitting around the fireplace with a hot beverage in hand. Martin & I are planning lots of fun things for the month of December: taking fun little trips, building a snowman, hosting a dinner, and this upcoming weekend we are heading into the city for our yearly x-mas brunch with our closest friends. Ah, we always have the most amazing time!

Summer, fall or winter, I live in florals! And I love how these two floral patterns came together. I just purchased this scarf from Barefoot Contessa, and this dress (my new fave!) from ASOS. I’m actually hoping to wear the dress to Martin’s parents house for Christmas dinner, but I’ll be pairing it with black rose-print tights, a statement necklace and a red lip! Anyone else have their holiday outfits all planned out?! xo veronika

Look Book: Polka Dots & A Blogger Cookie Swap!!

Just this past Saturday, I attended a (super cute!) Christmas blogger cookie swap, which was hosted by my lovely pal Cee of Coco & Vera! It was the perfect way to welcome in the Christmas season - super fun & relaxing. Plus, I can never say no to yummy cookies!! I decided on my fave polka dot dress from H&M for the occasion. I absolutely love wearing red this time of year, and topped it all off with red lipstick & a good dose of neutrals -my current obsession! Eee, I was so excited to head into the city and meet up with the girls!!

Yay, the girls! I absolutely loved all of the holiday themed outfits that I saw; everyone looked gorgeous. We spent the afternoon sitting around Cee's kitchen, sampling the most amazing cookies, swapping fashion & blog stories, snapping photos, and enjoyed loads of festive cheer. I'm thrilled to be a part of this lovely community, and I LOVE connecting with these gals once a month! I'm already wondering what we'll do for our next blogger meet-up in January. I can not wait!

After spending a blissful afternoon with the ladies, hubs and I headed out to buy our Christmas tree for the condo - we were both filled with lots of holiday cheer, and cookies for that matter! I may or may not have passed out on Martin's shoulder later that night while trying to watch a movie -oops! I'll be posting pics of our tree next week, and I'm hoping to do some cute x-mas portraits of Martin & I too. So fun. I live for that kind of stuff! xo veronika

Look Book: Trains, Stripes & Vintage Bowler Hats!

I don't always get up on the right side of the bed - we all have our days, right? But oh boy, I sure did on this particular day!! I woke up in such a happy & joyful mood, and the ultimate icing on the cake?! It was such a beautiful day! Our little town was completely sun-drenched and it was so warm out, it almost felt spring like. Amazing! You know what else makes me a happy girl? Easy & effortless photos! The hubs and I have it down to a fine science of 10-15 minutes, thank goodness! Haha, trust me, it hasn't always been that easy!! Go team us! ;)

Yeah!! I've been scoring on cute, cute clothes lately. How darling is this coat?! My bestie Maria gave it to me just the other day when we met up for a lovely city dinner. Hmm, I can still recall my fabulous vegetarian pakora & couscous dish. Hehe right, back to the jacket! I absolutely love the slightly vintage vibe, and the big button is such an adorable detail. I can't wait to pair it with red over the holidays, or with my skinnies & newly ordered wright boots from Blowfish! And of course it will be absolutely perfect for spring!

Look Book: Vintage Knit Tuques & An Ocean Pier!!

With winter less than a month away and our steadily dropping temperatures, I was inspired to work a more snuggly & winter inspired look. I’m getting so excited to wear textured knit hats, sweater tights, and my newly purchased fair isle leg warmers all season long -yippee! It’s the perfect winter accompaniment, along with hot chocolate, mittens, and adorable snowmen -of course! Don't you guys just love how each season brings its own little magical bits?! It's so splendid!

Hubs and I were up to our usual tricks - oh boy, we're so predictable! After snapping a few photos, we enjoyed such a sweet & romantic walk down the pier, all the while enjoying the squawking seagulls, and we took in the most amazingly crisp & salty air - so relaxing. We even spotted an otter swimming about in the water. Gosh, they are so cute, don't you just love how they float on their backs?! Eee, I could kiss them! Haha, except that they would bite my face off!

Any fun plans for the weekend, friends?! I’m off to a Christmas themed blogger meet-up this Saturday, and instead of our usual clothing swap, we're swapping cookies - super cute, right?! Look Book: Cream Pleated Midi Skirts & Historic Homes!

Firstly, a big thank you to Paige (my dear friend) of Barefoot Vintage for sending me this gorgeous skirt & red obi belt. And secondly, thank goodness for bloggy friends that send me clothes, because just the other day I had "one of those" moments - gulp, you know the one where you open your closet, stare at your clothes and you come up with nothin?! Thankfully, this styling story has a happy ending -yay! I've since decided to plan out my outfits way in advance! I'm totally getting my fashion nerd on, guys. ;)

Isn't this a charming spot for outfit photos?! I love the little lamps on the building and the awning is so cute, right?! I'm just smitten with our historic little town. I love finding new & charming spots for my blog pictures, and it seems like the perfect place to wear my vintage dresses - I fit right in!! But goodness, it was cold - my hands felt like ice cubes by the end. Even my hubby yelped (aw) when I put my hands on the back of his neck. Hehe!

Just this past Friday, I was over-the-moon excited to visit one of my favourite local stores, Barefoot Contessa - it's truly my idea of heaven! Look Book: Red Tights & Comfy Cable Knits...

Oh exciting stuff, friends! I'm so thrilled I had the chance to sneak in one more fall post -go me!! It hasn't been an easy task, since we've had some pretty crazy winds, hail and rain monsoons. However, just the other day, we had a spectacular afternoon. I ventured out to this lovely spot - the weather could not have been more perfect. My favourite part?! While we were taking outfit photos, the most beautiful red leaves were falling, everywhere! It was so pretty!!

Martin (my sweet hubby) and I spent a part of our day walking around our local urban village - it's seriously the cutest place ever!! Imagine... ocean, mountains, lush trees, and in the middle of it all is a super quaint village filled with pretty brick architecture, charming street lamps, and little shops selling all kinds of yummy foods. So cute, right?! It's our over the weekend go-to spot. We love buying lots of fresh food and then cooking yummy meals together -so great!!

Goodness, I have worn this skirt so many times! I haven't stopped loving it since I bought it from ModCloth earlier this year. And, I've been dying to try a pair of red tights -it's such a fun look. Although, I will admit they seem to get me a lot of attention. Hehe, everyone keeps starring down at my legs. Anyhoo, I opted to tone down the overall pops of red by adding lots of neutral colours: boots, cardy, and my new brown belt. I'm proud to say, I put this outfit together in less than 5 minutes - that's a rarity, believe me! xo veronika

My Blog Office & Blogging Organizational Tips!!

Hey guys! I recently mentioned & tweeted about the fact that I set up a little blog nook in our home - voila, here it is!! I was so thrilled to finally set up this little spot for myself, just a couple short weeks ago! And in case you're wondering, I bought the desk and chair from IKEA. Let me just say, it's been such a positive experience setting up a blog office. It's helped me get focused, organized, and feel more in control of my blog tasks. I've learned that staying organized is a big part of having & managing my blog.

How I stay organized!!

Monthly calender: I seriously couldn't live without it! I schedule all of my giveaways, upcoming posts, keep track of sponsor deadlines, and my sponsor renewal dates.
Daily to-do list: I jot down what I need to get done in order of priority before I sit down to blog. I find this helps me stay on task and I can typically answer emails & comments, edit photos, and write my posts, and be done in a couple of hours -yay!!
Automate: I've created a sponsor pdf sheet, invoice templates, email templates (for frequently asked questions), giveaway templates, and cheat sheets for my most used HTML code. Ah, I can't stress enough, the importance of automating things. It's helped me get so much more efficient. Hooray for sanity!
Set time limits: I've been guilty of sitting down to a 1 hour task, but (oops!) it ends up taking me a couple of hours. So I've started setting time limits for my tasks to keep me focused, and now I get things done!!
Take a break: Yup, when I'm feeling tired or over-whelmed, sometimes taking an internet-free day is the perfect way to get me & my schedule back in balance.
Don't sweat the small stuff: Sometimes, no matter how hard I try, I just can't get every teeny tiny thing done - and that's totally okay! I just jot it down and know I'll get to it the next day! :)

Yay, it’s happy smiley me. Just the other day, hubs & I enjoyed a (rain-free!) stroll in our neighbourhood -ah, so pretty. Geez, I truly can't believe we are well into November, and that fall posts will be turning into winter and x-mas inspired posts. I'm so insanely excited to make this the best Christmas ever!! My last few have been so full of work & more work - but this year I'm thrilled to be my own boss (yay!) and I can’t wait to make it a super memorable and fun holiday! Hmm, yummy baking & cooking, here I come. :)

Aw, loved kicking leaves in this brightly coloured ensemble. I bought this dress just a few weeks ago from ASOS. It’s been such an awesome wardrobe staple; since it's short enough, I’ve also worn it with my skinnies & over-the-knee boots -totally adorable! And I almost reached for my favourite cardigan, but then opted for a denim jacket instead. Goodness, I have such a love of cardigans! I really can’t help myself; they are so comfy and super easy to just throw on - anyone else as obsessed with them as I am?!

Look Book: All Bundled Up!

Hooray! Hubs and I just spent three glorious days off together (today’s our fourth!) - yes, it’s been complete & total bliss!! I was so happy to catch up on some sleep, drink peppermint tea in bed, and marvel at the fall hued trees in front of our bedroom window - ah, they are seriously breathtaking. I also spent a bit of Sunday in my (new!) blog nook, organizing giveaways for December & getting caught up on emails. I’ll be posting pictures of my space later this week, along with tips on how I stay organized. Stay tuned for that!

On Saturday we headed out for a bit and I decided on this bundled up look, because it's officially cold!! I was so excited to find this lovely sweater on a recent thrifting expedition; it’s such a comfy & laid back piece -which I love! I feel like sweaters & chunky knit cardy’s will be a great go-to look for me this winter. I’ve already paired this sweater with so much: skinny jeans, denim shorts & tights, and here with my skirt. A big yay for feeling cozy!!

And in other super exciting news?! I'm so thrilled to share with you guys that I’ve joined the Lucky Style Collective! I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the Lucky family. It’s such a terrific magazine and I love that they are so supportive of the blogging community. I’ll be contributing content to both their website & editorial magazine, along with other special projects which I can’t wait to share with you -of course!! Blog Spotlight: Second Edition!

I'm so thrilled to be featuring Andrea of Blonde Bedhead for my second edition of blog spotlight! I absolutely love being able to introduce you guys to my favourite bloggers, and learn a little bit more about these amazing blogging lovelies myself! When it comes to personal style blogs, I quickly fell head-over-heels for Andrea's. I love her ability for mixing beautiful feminine pieces with a more urban & edgy aesthetic, and she always features the most enviable shoes. Be sure to check out her blog; you will love her gorgeous style & sassy personality. Enjoy the interview!

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself? Hello! I'm Andrea, a Michigan native, living and working in Chicago. I run the blog, Blonde Bedhead, but I also photograph weddings and work in advertising.

2. What inspired you to start your fashion blog? Tieka of Selective Potential really inspired me because I didn't really know fashion blogs existed before she started hers, but I loved to photograph fashion shoots with friends, write freelance fashion-related articles and I also just love to have fun with personal style and fashion. It just made sense to start this little hobby where all the things I was passionate about would be in one singular place.

3. How has your personal sense of style evolved over the blogging years? My style has definitely evolved. I take bigger risks and have more confidence to wear bold colors and accessories. I also developed a deep affinity for ridiculous shoes, which I never had until I started the blog and started noticing the amazing shoes that exist out there!

4. Aside from fashion blogging, what are some of your other passions? Like I mentioned earlier, I'm a photographer and focus primarily on portrait and wedding work. It's so much fun for me to photograph weddings, but then to also schedule fun shoots with friends that have amazing styles that inspire me and share them on my blog. I also love animals and on the rare occasion I can get back to my parents' home, I like to visit the horses and goats and annoy the cat with my constant pestering.

5. What are some of your favorite things about living in Chicago? Everywhere you go in Chicago, there is a great restaurant near and the choices are endless. I love food, particularly greasy, delicious foods, so when I see a pub or old diner, I'm thrilled! I also love the access I have to fun shops like TopShop, Zara and other small boutiques and vintage shops that are in Chicago. It's so easy to go shopping and spend the entire day visiting just one neighborhood for their shops!

6. Who takes your outfit pictures and do you have any photography tips? I've trained my boyfriend how to use my camera and I must say, he's become quite the little photographer. He has a great eye and listens to me, which helps, since I know what I like. My main photography tips for outfit photos is to try to shoot outside and not in direct sunlight! Direct sunlight can be so harsh if you're not used to working with that kind of light and outside photos just have a higher quality feel to them to indoor lighting of a house. My second tip would be to have fun and take a variety of shots like full length photos, wide angle shots and of course, a lot of detail shots!

7. What are your dreams and aspirations for your blog?
My blog has already done so much for me. It's given me a way to be creative and it's helped me land jobs. I don't think I'd ever want to blog full-time, but keep it as a fun project, so it stays fun for me, but I'd still like it to grow and for me to earn more great opportunities to work with brands I love!

8. What fall/winter trends are you most excited about? Two words: Leopard print. As if I needed an excuse to wear my favorite print, but it's hot this season and I'm so ecstatic that I can find coats, tops, pants, skirts, shoes, belts, etc in the print.

9. What’s your current go to outfit? My go to outfit is always an over-sized grey top, black skinnies, a crazy heeled black boot and a leather jacket. It's what I feel most comfortable in and I own so many of the same grey type of shirt, pants, boots and jackets, it's easy for me to recreate.

10. Do you have any tips for new or aspiring fashion bloggers? My tip is to start it because you love whatever you love--whether it's personal style, photography, fashion, street-style and you want to talk about it and share with others, not because you want free shit. That will come later, I promise.

Yup! My fave comfy & cozy cardy is back! Hehe, forgive me?! I’ve been wearing it with everything in my day-to-day life. But don’t worry, I’ll spare you guys. And (oh, yes!) my fall posts are still going strong. Martin and I have been enjoying so many beautiful walks, going out for lovely dinners, and just really trying to make the most of this gorgeous season. I love making each day as special & memorable as I possibly can. I know, I'm a total corn-ball! ;)

I just purchased this moustache tee from ASOS! I absolutely adore it - it's super comfy & seriously cute. I'm such a sucker for fun quirky prints or cute graphics; when it comes to easy outfits this is so my idea of the perfect downtime ensemble. I swear, give me an adorable scarf, cardy and some high boots -I'm set! And speaking of loves & clothing crushes, I'm currently lusting after these "Snow Bunny Tights" from ModCloth. I can't wait to buy them. Aren't they the cutest?! ♥

Tonight, I'm off to one of my fave restaurants. I’ve been craving a bowl of French onion soup, like non-stop. Yum, I can't wait! We had such an amazingly sunny & rain-free weekend. Ah, it felt so wonderful to have some warm sunlight on my face. I absolutely live for gorgeous days like these! Hubs and I decided on an impromptu visit to this adorable train station museum by our home. I just love coming here for outfit photos -it's such a quaint little spot! I swear that between the ocean, forested trails, train tracks, and glorious mountains, I’m always so inspired for outfit photos or photography in general... it’s perfection.

Cable knit tights, striped cardigans, and my newly ordered Beams boots from Blowfish, are currently my wardrobe staples. I have been wearing these boots -everywhere!! I'm absolutely smitten with the look, and can't wait to pair them again in the colder days with a fantastic pair of over-the-knee socks. It's such an adorable look and one that I've been wanting to try for the longest time!! Any looks you guys are super excited to try?!

And in other bloggy related news?! I just set up a little blog office nook in my home and I'm so in love with it. I'm officially a blogging nerd, guys! Haha, but it's so wonderful to have a place I can call my own, and get all of my blog bits organized. I'll be sharing a few photos of my space next week!! Yay! Here I am in all of my tired after-work glory! Hehe, nothing but the best for you guys (wink, wink!). Goodness, it’s been getting a lot chillier out lately. I suspect my outfits might be moving from fall to winter a little faster than I first imagined. But darn it, I will try to stretch out my fall posts for as long as I can! I love being able to document the seasons, this time in our lives and snippets from our neighbourhood -so many wonderful memories!!

Hubby and I have been quite the pair this week. I just hurt my back the other day (ouch!), and later that day hubby banged & hurt his knee, so now he’s been limping around. Oh boy, we're quite the envious couple at the moment! Huh guys?! Injuries aside, hubby has been so sweet; he's been giving me lots of extra back rubs, and we've been catching up on our favourite TV shows. So, it's not all bad!!

In anticipation of fall, I just ordered several dresses (this is one of them) from ASOS and these lovely tights. I’m absolutely in love with both. The dress has a super cute butterfly print on it and the tights are such an amazing quality. Two thumbs up! And on another note, a BIG thank you to Tieka for the gorgeous new header & other blog tweaks (with one more bit to come!). Yay, she's so lovely to work with and I love how it turned out!! Look Book: Late Fall Evenings & A Vintage Skirt...

It seems most of my days off start with high hopes! This includes things like: going to the gym, cleaning the house, sorting my paperwork, and other non-exciting things. Needless to say, I did not go to the gym... nope, instead I settled on an afternoon nap, an amazingly delicious fall lunch (mashed potatoes & vegy stew) and the most delightful walk! Lately, I've been working really long hours, so days like this are just perfection!! ♥

Am I on a roll or what, guys?! Last week I featured beautiful yellow leaves, and this week I'm back with stunning red ones! My first fall as a fashion blogger is leaving me feeling super excited & inspired. I'm absolutely in love with taking outfit photos right now. And hooray, Martin did such a great job on these!!

I have been living in browns, mustard hues and earth tones lately!! I just received this gorgeous skirt from EL Vintage and (gasp!) it was love at first sight. The colours are absolutely perfect for fall and the silhouette is so pretty & girly. And the best part?! The skirt has a totally different pattern in the back. Yay, two skirts in one. Score! Aw, it was a slightly rainy and rather dreary day but I still found it super beautiful out. The air was crisp, and as you can see we still have a few green trees sprinkled throughout our neighbourhood. Rain or no rain, I'm a trooper, and I happily headed out to take outfit photos and even splashed in the odd puddle! Totally fun... minus the slightly wet tights. ;)

I was SO thrilled to find this skirt on one of my recent thrifting adventures! Ah, the pattern & awesome pleats totally won my heart!! It's definitley been getting chillier lately, so these days... light jackets, boots, and cozy scarves have been a wardrobe staple! But seriously, I couldn't be happier. I love fall layers and I can't wait to share lots of cozy & layered looks with you this season.

Hooray, the sweet, sweet weekend is almost upon us. What is everyone up to for Halloween?! I think Martin & I will be spending ours watching a few scary movies and eating lots of candy with a few of our close friends! Look Book: Fall Leaves & Spontaneous Outings...

Just a few days ago, I met up with my hubby for a spontaneous after-work date night! It was spectacular out!! I’ve been waiting for the leaves to change colour for what feels like... forever! But finally, the stunning colours have hit the west coast. Yay! So naturally, I couldn’t resist taking a few outfit photos. I'm so thrilled that fall has taken over our neighbourhood!

We spent the remainder of our evening enjoying a glass of wine and lots of great chats. Hubby & I were friends long before we became a couple, and I absolutely love that!! Because even after 13 years together, I feel like we are still the dearest of friends and we love sharing our lives with one another. Haha, sorry guys, apparently I’m in a sappy mood. ;)

As for the outfit?! Well, it was a super quick, oh my gosh, what should I wear, throw it on really fast kind of outfit!! But I love how it turned out. Vintage inspired florals, brown knitted tights and plaid -felt so perfectly fall-esque!! I'm also loving the cognac hue of my Jeffrey Campbell splendid heels; they seem to suit the changing season beautifully. And in anticipation of fall, I've also ordered several dresses from ASOS, which I can't wait to style & share with you guys next week! Yay!! Enjoy your day, friends...

Scenes From: A Night Of Pumpkin Carving...

I can't believe this was my first pumpkin carving -ever!! We had such an amazingly gorgeous day with golden leaves & so much fall sunshine; a perfect afternoon for picking out our pumpkin! I’m super excited to make this our new yearly tradition. And as for next year?! I’m dying to go to a pumpkin patch, complete with friends, yummy spiced drinks, and cider doughnuts! I hear they are amazing!

Did you notice that Martin is doing all the dirty work?! Haha, I was in charge of toasting up the pumpkin seeds, which were delicious. I used cinnamon, sugar and butter. Yum! I love creating fun traditions for us to enjoy as a couple; it keeps life fun & inspiring. And one day, I can’t wait to do it with our kids. What are some of your favourite fall traditions?!

Goodness, we’ve been having the most amazing fall weather lately! I’ve been loving every single second of it. Hooray for sunshine and easy dressing! Jacket. Skirt. Tights. Booties. Yup, that’s my version of an easy outfit. I added a shot of pink, the perfect “pièce de résistance!” And, I was thrilled to wear my new Blowfish booties!! I can not rave enough about these shoes. Adorable, affordable, and fabulously comfortable. Yes, these are the things that make me a very happy girl!

After an afternoon spent enjoying deliciously warm sunshine, hubs and I found ourselves at our nearby grocery store armed with loads of yummy snack foods and a DVD. Haha, we sure know how to live it up on the weekend, right?! We did manage to redeem ourselves by lighting candles, snuggling on the couch (with our pets squeezed in between us) and had our fireplace on. Such a sweet & simple night. Do you guys enjoy nights in too?

Do you guys have a go-to outfit?! This is definitely mine. Cardy's, cute little dresses and tights always seem to steal my heart. I just loaded up on so many tights last weekend: brown, rust, red, polka-dots, floral... oh boy, more than I care to admit! As for the rest of my day? It’s been incredibly gorgeous out. I spent most of it outside with the pooch, followed by a visit to my fave restaurant for soup! Ah, simple days always put a smile on my face!

Did I score at my last swap or what?! Have you noticed just how many swapped goodies I've been wearing & blabbing on about?! It’s such an awesome way to feature new looks without breaking the bank! And this lovely dress is no exception; it’s my first time wearing BB Dakota and I’m smitten. It’s the perfect dress for fall walks, or for late afternoon dates with the Mr.

As for this path?! Ah, love! I can’t wait to come back once the leaves are at the peak of their fall colour. I often walk along here with my groceries -so picturesque! Don't you love when you plan an outfit but wear the exact opposite?! Yup, that was me this weekend, but I absolutely loved how it turned out. We spent most of this past weekend with friends & family and had such a blast. We found ourselves in the city enjoying a lovely dinner on Saturday, followed by a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner with the fam on Monday. Aww, love holidays!

Look Book: Pink Pleats & An Antique Bookstore!

We finally had a rain-free day, so Martin & I happily headed out for a mini adventure. Oh boy, life on the West Coast isn't easy when you're a blogger -we've been getting so much rain! We headed to a small historic town (close to where we live) and explored the downtown area. The streets are lined with heritage homes which have been converted into charming tea shops, bookstores and even a few art galleries. It's so quaint; we love living here!!

Ah, this little bookstore was so full of charm. I loved the interior... old hardwood floors and lined with fantastic books -everywhere! Hopefully (sometime soon) we'll get to take some outfit photos inside too. How fun would that be?! I absolutely love old bookstores! It's amazing to think that it used to be someone's home, filled with memories, family dinners and just to day-to-day life! Pretty neat, right? That said, I'd love to own a heritage home one day. But my goodness, Vancouver has such insane real estate prices!! So for now, we are happy condo dwellers.

Ah, I love easy weekends! We spent a part of ours visiting with Martin's parents and then enjoyed a visit from my mom the next day: great company, yummy wine, home cooked meals... yes, please!! Look Book: 70's Vintage Dresses & A Blogger Swap!

A few weekends ago I attended a blogger clothing swap, which was hosted by the gorgeous Cee of "Coco & Vera!" It was the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon -super fun & really relaxing! Just what this overworked girl needed. And as if cute clothes and fabulous company wasn't enough, we also nibbled (or in my case devoured) strawberry birthday cake, delicious cupcakes, and sipped pink champagne. We were celebrating a few September birthdays. Adorable!

I decided on this vintage dress, which I had just thrifted a few weeks ago. I absolutely love that it's an authentic 70's piece, and it's so different from anything else I own. Also, it works perfectly with my retro inspired Jeffrey Campbell platforms, which I promise not to wear for every single post. I don't know how they keep ending up in all of my outfit photos this week! ;-)

What an awesome day! I love that I get to see these lovely gals once a month. It's kind of amazing that we've all come together because of our blogs -how fantastic is that?! And the best part is that everyone is so sweet, sincere and super supportive of one another's blogs & endeavors. Amazing! ♥
