I'm originally from the Czech Republic but moved to Canada when I was 7. I absolutely love it here - it's such a nature-rich place to live. I'm a sucker for ocean and mountains.
♥ What made you start your blog?
I had just spent a year working from home on my own business and I was craving an outlet for fashion - big time! One day, I stumbled on a few personal style fashion blogs. Oooh, I was hooked! A few months later, I decided to jump on the bandwagon - yay! So happy I did, because I adore being a part of the fashion blogging community.
♥ How did you grow your blog?! Can you give any tips?
Be nice and participate in the community! I love attending blogger meet-ups, fashion shows and blogging conferences; it's a wonderful way to meet other bloggers & potential sponsors. Also, love what you do! Pick a topic that you're truly interested in. When you align yourself with your passions, it shows, and that is always infectious. Lastly... blog aesthetics, well written content and great photography really help too!
♥ What camera do you use & how do you edit your photos?
I use a Canon 60D DSLR and a 50mm fixed portrait lens. I edit all of my photos using Adobe Lightroom & Photoshop. I've also made several of my own actions & presets too; however if that's a bit too techy, then I would recommend Rad Lab - it's so easy to use. I adore it!
♥ Any tips on posing in front of the camera?
Practice! When I first started blogging, I tried to study poses from some of my fave magazines and I would also try out my poses in front of a full length mirror. Hehe, does that make me a total blogging dork?! ;)
♥ Are you a full time blogger? If not, what do you do for a living?!
Although I put a lot of time & love into my blog, nope, it's not my full time job. I also run my own e-commerce site, design jewelry and I'm a freelance photographer. When it comes to my work, I enjoy variety.
♥ Do you have any tips on mixing patterns?
Yes, for sure! If I use two different prints in my outfit, I try to balance them out with a solid colour or use patterns from the same colour family. I also love to mix floral patterns with a stripe or animal print - it's tried & true and I love it. I'd also recommend choosing a big print and a small print when you're mixing different patterns. Lastly, experiment... sometimes it's fun to break all the rules. Good luck!
♥ What are your tips for remixing clothes?
I love to cruise the net or peek through my Madewell or J.Crew catalogues for inspiration. I find that I can re-create most outfits I see, just by using my existing pieces. And I swear by accessories: hats, belts, tights, scarves, reading glasses... they can do so much to transform an outfit.
♥ What do you use on your hair?
I don't use any products on my hair, but I do straighten my hair with a NP Ceramic Flat Iron, and that's what gives it the shiny appearance.
♥ Are you a vegetarian and how do you stay fit?
Yes I am. I've always preferred a vegetarian life-style. I love to eat lentils, quinoa, split peas, oatmeal and whole grains - I also add nuts to my salads for added protein. As for staying fit? I love to do yoga and I'm hoping to start running again too.
♥ How long have you been married?
I've been with my husband for 13 years & married for 7 - I love married life!
Still have a question?! No problem, feel free to email me! Thanks for popping by, and enjoy your day!! xo veronika
